Admission Requirements
- A degree in a rehabilitation related field: rehabilitation medicine, physical and occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, nursing, neuroscience, pharmacology, prosthetics and orthotics, bioengineering, human factor engineering and design, and rehabilitation/clinical psychology. In some cases, applicants with appropriate backgrounds in other areas may be admitted if their education, experience and interests are considered suitable by the curriculum faculty.
- A minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
- Previous clinical or healthcare experience
- A Graduate Record Examination score from within the
last five years
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is
required if English if not the native language - minimum
requirement is 550+ on the paper-based test and 213+ on
the computer-based test.
- Review and approval by the Admissions Committee in Preventive Medicine and Community Health in cooperation with the Rehabilitation Sciences Curriculum Admissions Committee.
Knowledge is required in rehabilitation science in the following areas:
- Development of scientific theories focusing on the underlying mechanisms of impairment, disability and societal limitation;
- Systematic examination of appropriate prevention, intervention and adaptation strategies based on scientific theories;
- Construction and validation of measurement tools to evaluate impairment, disability and societal limitation; and
- Systematic evaluation of the effectiveness of existing prevention, intervention and adaptation strategies - the study of rehabilitation outcomes
