Basic Immunohematology University of Texas Medical Branch Clinical Laboratory Sciences   Offers Continuing Education in Immunohematology Description: The applicant will be given the opportunity to: apply knowledge of the antigen and antibody characteristics of blood group systems in procedures to detect and identify them, utilize the principles of donor selection, compatibility testing, and component preparation to select appropriate donors; determine donor/recipient compatibility; and appropriately prepare and handle components. Prerequisites: MLT or MT standing OR permission of the instructor. Contact Hours: The applicant may earn 15 continuing education contact hours. The University of Texas Medical Branch, Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, is an approved provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences through the ASCLS P.A.C.E.® program. Fifteen one-hour, on-line lessons will be offered over the summer semester of each year. Fee: $ 200 Presenter: The presenter, Camellia St. John, MEd, MT (ASCP) SBB, is an Associate Professor in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Department at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
